your Jr. VIDES group serve as a tremendous inspiration to both Holly
the one who was supposed to teach you, yet I came away as the one

Truly this year’s Asherton formation/service camp has been
a great ACCOMPANIMENT Adventure!
We walked with each other and with the young
sharing bread—that which is life giving
moving toward experiencing and sharing life in Christ.
Participants in mutual ACCOMPANIMENT:
• 7 in the Director Team:
F Salvador Pedroza (Pastor) celebrated the Eucharist and
Reconciliation, S Gloria (formation), S Thuy (service) with S Carmen
and S Lourdes, Julius Scott (leadership), and Sulema (Parish
Secretary) obtained donations and evening meals for the volunteers
and teams.
• 7 in the Core Team:
Amanda Isaac 05 (presented Servant Leadership and Culture Stress),
Tarry Le 05 (presented Social Issues and Culture Stress), Patricia
Barraza 05 (camp mom), Jamie Young 07 (taxi service), and three
Postulants—Linda Gonzales, Bernadette Mota, and Jaden Tran. All
seven served in many, many ways with great Salesian spirit in front
and behind the scenes.
• 7 new Volunteer Missioners did the formation/service camp to
prepare for their missions: Matthew Alexander (from Houston,
Asherton-mission), Mary Becker (from IA, Mozambique-mission), Erica
Boutte (from LA, Asherton-mission), Andrea Cisneros (from MD, San
Antonio-mission), Jennifer Heretick (from FL, Dominican Republic-
mission), Teri Rockenhaus (from NM, Honduras-mission), and Jessica
Whitlock (from PA, Dominican Republic-mission)
• 7 Asherton youth became Junior VIDES Leaders (JVL)
beginning with Lisa Jaime (who will soon be a VIDES Volunteer
Missioner), Brissa M Cardenas, Germaine De Leon, Clarissa Trevino,
Gilbert Villanueva, [2 names missing]
24 teens began their leadership formation including the JVLs
named above plus Kristie Aguirre, Yesenia Alfaro, Chelsea Castro,
Victoria Costilla, Claire Cruz, Demi Cruz, Kasey Cruz, Justin
Escobedo, Noel Galvan, Cristina Garza, Stephanie Garza, Kevin
Gonzalez, Juan F Guerrero Jr, Victoria Martinez, Robert Mendoza Jr,
Sabrina Sanchez, Joe David Sanchez, Rick Sifuentez, and Edna Tapia.
• And more than 100 youngsters attended the Bible Camp.
Some great things could be observed throughout the kids' camp days
that followed: the growing of relationships together with the desire of
emulating the generosity and enthusiasm of the missioners by the
juniors. At the end the teens exclaimed,
“We want to be just like VIDES!”
They actually lived it throughout the camp days.
Let us remember all these wonderful people in our prayer that they
may continue to shine forth Jesus’ love and peace wherever they go.
