IN THE WORLD
Since 1877 the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (Salesian Sisters) have been a missionary
institute and since 1987 they are providing service opportunities through VIDES to young adults
inviting them to be part of its world-wide missions.

VIDES+USA is part of VIDES INTERNATIONAL, an NGO in special consultative status with the
Economic and Social Council and the Department of Public Information of the United Nations.
It provides service opportunities worldwide for volunteers (ages 18-35)
IN THE USA
VIDES started in the United States in 1997 in the West. Now we have VIDES+USA, as the Central
Office in San Antonio, Texas, and two Satellite Offices: Haledon, New Jersey, and San Antonio also
serves as a satellite office.

SERVICE in the USA and in the WORLD
VIDES volunteers serve together with members of the Salesian family (Priests, Brothers, Sisters,
Cooperators, ADMA*...) at home and abroad joining efforts to be transformational leaders in society by
living a simple Christ-centered life while serving the poor. VIDES volunteers promote social justice,
solidarity, and generosity in sharing and giving of themselves.*[Associazione Di Maria Ausilitrice
founded by St. John Bosco]

Formation/Service Camps (orientation):
In San Antonio we have the January and June
orientations. In New Jersey we have the July orientation.
Both satellite offices recruit from the entire US. As the
volunteers choose the formation camp they wish to
attend, that satellite office follows them through
formation and service.

Then, at the August
Re-Entry all returning volunteers
meet. At that time the volunteers are invited to become
part of the Core Group closest to their home state.
Volunteers, Members and Sponsors
experience and share life in Christ in everyday living to
help other young people and women, especially in
developing countries.  Through VIDES thousands of
young adults are opting to make a difference in the world.
VIDES-International has 14 offices in Europe, 7 in Asia,
13 in North and South America, 2 in Africa and helps with
development and emergency interventions in over 50
countries per year.
