Background VIDES (Volunteers International for Development, Education, and Solidarity) was started by the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, Salesian Sisters, in 1987 as an opportunity for young adults to collaborate with the many ministries that the Sisters carry out throughout the world. The primary apostolate is working with youth and young women in schools or youth ministry settings. The Sisters in Chalchuapa run a preschool and home for girls in at-risk situations. There are currently 32 girls who live there and 90 preschoolers who study there. Mission The Chalchuapa Fund, begun by VIDES+USA Missioner, Sydney Moss, goes to establish a Health Fund for the girls and to set up a Bakery where the girls and other women from the community learn a trade to be able to support themselves. Furthermore, contributions also help to provide basic education and the learning of other life-skills. Chalchuapa in Nahuatl means Jade’s River Jade was admired as the stone of love, inner peace, harmony and balance. Your contribution brings us a step closer to achieving that goal. THANK YOU for being a part of the Chalchuapa and other VIDES Projects by dontating to: VIDES+USA, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, www.vides.us 5630 W Commerce St. * San Antonio, TX 78237 |
