The following reflection is taken from one of Angel's emails.
everyone,
Thailand is great. It is so hot here though, all you have to do is
breath and you sweat. I am having a great time and everyone
here is so great. I am no longer teaching the younger students,
after the first day they said that i was to experienced for the
younger children so I am now teaching grades 1, 4,5. i have a
great time teaching, I had no clue where to begin but once i got
the swing of things I became very good. Everyone here is very
eager to learn English. There is one girl whom i have taken a
liking to her name is Thiep. She does not have enough money to
attend the school so she works and lives at the convent as do
about 30 other girls. She is trying to teach herself English and the
second day that i was here she asked me to help her, then other
girls did the same and so on;so after school I help other girls that
do not attend the school,that is where the real mission is. I enjoy it
more then teaching at the school, because these girls are
determined and they have heart. The days go by very fast, but
the nights are very slow, when i am by myself. I go to bed around
8-9 and i get very homesick, but knowing that i have so many
people praying for me and supporting me I cannot help but put on
a smile. My time here will be short lived so I am trying to do as
much as i can. The city here is very crowded and crazy. The
driver was going about 100 mph (no exageration) from the airport
they are on the wrong side of the street and of the car. The
motorcycles, let me tell you, they do not obey any traffic laws they
ride in the middle of traffic. The girls ride on the bikes side saddle
it is crazy. Just today i saw 2 adults and 2children on 1 motor bike
(haha). Well it is dinnertime i have to go, please forward this to
everyone. Thank you. Miss all of you.
